Going to share one of the hack tricks for the Panasonic DMR-E30. This hack was found troubleshooting and testing my system:
Connect the output video of your DVD player to a Pro-logic or Digital receiver to the video input, then to your video output of the
receiver to the DVD recorder input. This should bypass the Macrovision copyguard, I've tested them on Sony STR-XXXX series receivers.
I can't say it will work on all receiver or amps.

I can copy nearly all dvd's and VHS films that ar Macrovision poisonned in this way :
I have a Panasonic Digital AudioVideo mixer WJ-AVE5 connected in between my S VHS recorder and between my Pana RV32 DVDplayer,
this digital mixer replaces the bad sync , by new sync pulses so ommiting the Macrovision
it works very good ..
BUT!!!!! I have an other problem with the DMR E30 ::
when I make a Master DVD from my camera films or tv programs or whatever ,then I can not copy them to a nother blanc .. the
DMR E30 switches itsself erratically out ;so destroying my blanc DVD by putting on it some rubbish data...
it has something to do with a second copy protect I guess.. any body who knows a solution .. please send reply to

also so far: good blancs are :: Primedisc , TDK and Maxell , bad results with VIVISTAR and SENTINEL .. skipping ,
blocking .. still pics .. switching off.. so avoid these ones ..

first hack for the E30:
turn machine off,
hold down (on the machine itself) open/close,pause & stop all at the exact same time for about 5 seconds untill
the machine turns itself on.
'SERVICE MENU' will appear on the machine, not the tv.
from here pres 0, then 2 on the remote to access region, then the machine itself will rotate through various other menus,
leaving 5 seconds between each mode. (MAIN 0950E5, TIMER 0540E5, DRIVE A108, ROM M001)
exactlly how to change these regions is another question, not being a tech, I was frustrated that the machine has been on
the market this long without even a start at finding a hack, it took me 5mins to modify a hack from another Panasonic machine
to get this far, so I thought I'd leave it up to the tech experts to finish the work, hopefully they will reward us.
other combinations of numbers work too,
0, followed by 1
0, followed by 2
1, followed by 3 (or vice versa)

1. Switch on the DVD Player
2. Be sure, that there is no DVD in.
3. Press SETUP NEXT PREV NEXT PREV
4. Now, in the upper left corner you'll see a number.
With UP an DOWN you can swith between the entrys and with LEFT and
RIGHT you can change them:
5. Change your Regioncode with LEFT or RIGHT to 255 and it will be
REGIONCODE FREE (e.g. from 2 to 255)
6. Change the entrys 3001 and 4001 to 3000 and 4000, and
Macrovision 3 and 4 will be turned off

I had problems with SVCDs:
After inserting the disk, player reported "wrong disk" - pressing "display" revealed that the player recognized a SVCD though.
To fix:
-make sure no disk is in the drive
-turn player on
-press: setup-next-prev-next-prev
-scroll down to "ver 5001" - change it to "ver 5000" (left/right cursor)
-exit
Now it played SCVDs correctly.
Note: This appears to happen in newer models (mine is from July 2002). Another player, build in May 2002 did not have the
"ver 500x" option at all, but played SVCDs out of the box.
Any explanations for this?

Just got one from CompUSA. I highly recommend Lenoxx DVD-2003 to anyone who wants the least hassle hacking the region code and
macrovision.
I did exactly what the previous post said.
1. DVD on
2. No disc
3. Press SETUP NEXT PREV NEXT PREV with remote. You'll see "VER 1" on the upperleft corner.
4. With LEFT and RIGHT you can change the value. Change it to 255 (Region Free)
5. With UP and DOWN you can move to the next item. The next ones are 3001, 4001, 5001. Change them to 3000, 4000, 5000. 3000 and
4000 turn off Macrovision. 5000 I haven't tried yet.

I bought mine from Comp USA and the hack mentioned belowed worked perfectly. Initially it did not play any VCD.
But after enabling the feature, it played fine.
I don't have a non region 1 DVD (yet) to test if it can atually play it, but I guess it should.
I would recomended this player to anyone, coz of its price and easy availability of remote control hack to
enable all the fetures without any firware upgrades.

Greetings all,
I just wanted to thank the folks in this area who posted this hack! It works great!
I powered up the machine, entered 'setup' 'next' 'prev'
'next' 'prev' and got the 'ver1' values up in the left hand corner, changed to 255.
Also the 3000 and 4000 code changes definitely changed the macrovision output to, well there is no macrovision output anymore!!
My Panasonic DMR-HS2 recorder works fantastic with this machine.
Great deal, still stocking these at my CompUSA.

1. Remove DVD/CD from your drive.
2. Press the following keys on your remote:
[ACTION] [1] [>=10] [6] [4] [3] [8]
3. A new menu option will appear named Other followed by four stars. Use one of the following codes to:
3192 -> Multi-Region Enable
3193 -> Macrovision Disable
If you locked your player by pressing [4] instead of [1] after pressing [ACTION], this will also unlock your player.
