I stand corrected; the patches listed above seem to work! I'm amazed! Here is the exact
detail of what I did:
I took the two previous hacks and combined them into one..
Make the following changes to the binary file icaapi.dll
and copy it into system32 and system32\dllcache, then reboot.
Offset: Old Byte Value --> New Byte Value
00004B84: 17 --> 00
00004CC7: 7C --> EB
00004DAA: 74 --> EB
00004D9A: 8B --> 33
00004D9B: C7 --> C0
000091B5: 74 --> EB
You need to use a hex editor to apply these changes. I used AXE, a shareware
Hex Editor that I got off of download.com ... If you look carefully, you can
find a serial around to remove the nag screen.
After installing the new file, I rebooted, and things were working ok in
application mode. I installed Citrix Metaframe on it, and licensed it with
the CITRIXLM utility that was released a long time ago.
Everything worked.
Then I shutdown, and booted to dos, and forwarded the system date to September,
and booted Windows again.
Everything still worked.
To prove that the hack really made a difference, I replaced the hacked ICAAPI.DLL
with the original and rebooted.
When it rebooted, terminal services would not run, complaining that the temporary
license period had expired. So I put my hacked file back, rebooted, and viola! Its working!
My deepest gratitude to everyone who has been following this thread, and those who
have provided the crucial information to make this possible.
All we need now is a similar hack for Office 10, which is yet-another registrationware. :)
