Heart of the Congoes
The first ten songs are from the original album "Heart of the Congoes", released by Black Ark in 1977. The following two ("At the Feast" and "Nicodemus") were unreleased, but from the same recording sessions. The final four songs are versions were published as follows:
1 & 2."Congoman" (12" mix) & "Congoman Chant": taken from the master tape for "Island Black Swan" (12" issue), 1st released in '77 and not available since then.
3."Bring the Mackaback": dub version to "Fisherman" previously available as a Jamaican 7" B-side released on the Upsetter label.
4."Noah Sugar Pan": Scratch's B-side dub mix to the Black Ark label 7" of "Ark of the Covenant" 1st issued in '77.
5."Solid Foundation": from the master tape of the Jamaican Upsetter labeled 12" mix.

Bass: Boris Gardiner+Geoffrey Chung on "Fisherman"
Drums: Lowell "Sly" Dunbar & Mickey "Boo" Richards+Paul on "Fisherman"
Rhythm guitar: Robert "Billy" Johnson
Lead Guitar: Ernest Ranglin (one of the finest guitar players ever, try and find other records by him if u have time)
Organ: Winston "Brubeck" Wright (plays bass on "Congoman")
Piano: Keith Stewart
Percussions: Noel "Skully" Simms, Uziah "Sticky" Thompson & Lee Perry
Backing vocals: The Meditations & Watty "King" Burnett
Gregory Isaacs, Earl Morgan & Barry Llewellyn (those last two are from the Heptones) on "La La Bam Bam"
Candy McKenzie (from the vocal group Full Experience) on "Children Crying"
As u see, a myriad of stars playing on that masterpiece by the master himself, namely Lee Scratch Perry.
