ABANDONWARE CLASSIC GAMES

Este CD es una coleccin de 500 juegos para PC de entre
1980 y 1995 aproximadamente. Evidentemente hay muchos
juegos mas de esos aos, pero nos hemos limitado a incluir
aquellos que hemos conocido y que mas nos han gustado.
Hay juegos antiqusimos como "Alley Cat" o "Centipede",
juegos antiguos espaoles como "Goody" o "Last Mission",
juegos mticos como "Prince of Persia", "The secret of
Monkey Island" o "Lemmings", y juegos algo mas nuevos
como "Doom 2" o "El Dia del Tentculo" (los cuales ya
se estn convirtiendo en mticos).
Hay juegos de compaas legendarias como Opera Soft,
Topo Soft, Dynamic, Silmarils, Infogrames, Delphine,
Titus, Broderbund, Ocean, Id, Lucasfilm (o Lucas Arts),
Sierra, Cryo, Accolade, Mps, Psygnosis, Bitmap Brothers,
BullFrog, etc...

Hay muchos juegos que hubisemos querido incluir, pero que
no tenamos disponibles (Night Hunter, Ninght Breed, Jurassic
Park, Sub Battle Simulator y muchos mas). Por otro lado, hay
hemos incluido juegos que no conocemos en profundidad.
Hay juegos de los que en su da conocimos la versin en espaol,
y que ahora slo hemos encontrado en ingles. Es una pena.
La inmensa mayora de juegos son para MS-DOS, aunque hay
alguno para Windows 3.1 o Windows 95. En ese caso se trata
de juegos pequeos y muy sencillos.
INTERNET ES LA BOMBA!
---------------------
Unos juegos se han obtenido de nuestras "diquetecoteca"
personales, y para otros se ha recurrido a Internet.
Si deseas conseguir mas juegos, solo tienes que buscar
por "abandonware games" en cualquier buscador de Internet
y obtendras cientos de referencias. Los sitios mas conocidos
son "Abandonware Ring" y "Ring of Ages".
Por Abandonware se entiende software que se ha quedado
anticuado o que se ha dejado de vender. Algunas veces es
legal la copia de estos juegos, aunque otras veces no.
ESTRUCTURA DEL CD
-----------------
Dentro de la carpeta JUEGOS hay carpetas llamadas A, B, ..., Z.
En cada uno de esto directorios estn los juegos que comienzan
por dicha letra. Cada juego est en una carpeta con el
nombre completo del juego. Dentro de dicha carpeta hay
un BMP (una pantalla del juego) y un ZIP (ej juego). Lo mas
cmodo es usar el men que viene en el CD (CLASSICS.EXE).
En la carpeta UTILIDAD hay algunos programas que te pueden
ayudar. Hay ralentizadores del ordenador, para ajusta la velocidad
de juegos que vayan demasiado rpido (los mas viejos).
COMPATIBILIDAD
--------------
Ciertos juegos pueden dar problemas para ejecutarlos. Muchas veces
estos problemas se solucionan ejecutndolos en modo MS-DOS. Los
problemas mas habituales son:
* Juego demasiado rpido. Prueba un ralentizador del directorio
UTILIDAD. MoSlow13 y AtSlow31 funcionan bien en modo MS-DOS.
* No funciona la tarjeta de sonido. Asegrate de que la
variable de sistema BLASTER esta configurada correctamente.
Prueba en modo MS-DOS.
* Cuando suena algo, el juego se ralentiza. Prueba modo MS-DOS.
* Requiere mucha memoria convencional libre.
* Requiere memoria EMS. Usa EMM386 o QEMM.
* El teclado no responde. Prueba en modo MS-DOS.
* Requieren que se cargue desde disquete.
* Requieren una versin de MS-DOS antigua. Si ves el mensaje
"Packet file is corrupt", debes usar el MS-DOS 4 o inferior
para poder jugar.
Aun as, hay algunos juegos que siguen si funcionarnos, como
por ejemplo, "Contra", "Lemmings 2" o "Golden Eagle".
PROTECCIONES
------------
Las protecciones de los juegos antiguos consistan en hacer
al usuario una pregunta que se puede responder con el manual
del juego. Unas veces se han eliminado esas protecciones, otras
el juego se acompaa de un archivo de texto o un dibujo con
las "claves".
Aunque lo he intentado evitar, creo que se nos ha colado algn
juego con las claves sin quitar. Si tienes los conocimientos
suficientes, usa las herramientas de Gametools y un editor
hexadecimal para resolver el entuerto.
EL MENU
-------
Desde el men (CLASSICS.EXE) puedes ver la lista de juegos.
Puedes buscar un juego escribiendo su nombre en la caja de
texto, o buscarlo por la lista. Al seleccionar un juego en
la lista aparece una pantalla del mismo. Lo siento pero
no se ofrece ninguna descripcin. Si no los conoces es que
eres demasiado joven!.
Puedes instalar el juego en el directorio que quieras de tu
disco duro pulsando en "Instalar". Para desinstalar el juego,
borra manualmente el directorio donde esta, o bien vuelve
a poner instalar sobre el mismo directorio (entonces te
preguntara si lo quieres borrar).

---------
Esta es una coleccin nostlgica. A alguno que otro puede que
le caiga alguna lagrimilla. Echa un vistazo, porque hay muchos
juegos que son mucho mejores que algunas bazofias en 3D de
ahora (2000). Espero que disfrutis con los juegos de esta
recopilacin como nosotros hemos disfrutado en su poca.
