Problem with Acrobat 8 reactivation solved (for now)
1. Uninstall Acrobat 8 (usual way, from "add or remove programs")
reboot
2. Rename on disk every folder that has "Adobe"in its name (e.g. to Adobe_ or FLEXnet_):
\Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Application Data\Adobe
\Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe
\Documents and Settings\%alluserprofile%\Application Data\Adobe
\Documents and Settings\%alluserprofile%\Application Data\FLEXnet
\Program Files\Adobe (if remain after uninstall)
\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
probably this step is unneccessary but still safer. If you have other Adobe apps installed you can later swap
names of the old with the new folders.
[3. Clean registry from all keys named "Adobe"] does not seem 2 b necessary, was not on my Laptop
4. Use WinHex - press F9 -->
Open Physical Media [your boot HD] - press Ctrl. G --> GoTo Logical Sector 32 -
mark sectors from offset 0x4000 to the end of 0x41F0 (0x4200 NOT anymore) - right mouse click, edit, fill block -->
fill with hex values 00
Ctrl. S (save)
5. Reboot and reinstall Acrobat 8. As keygen you can use the one from ZWT.
For now it works properly.
After couple of weeks of on-line searching for the cause of the reactivation problem,
I concluded that it must be my dual-boot system with two Windows XP that caused invalidation
of Acrobat license, since I installed Acrobat on Windows that resides on the second HD after
installation on Windows on the first HD. Second installation probably messed with the
SafeCast protection in the sector 0 on the first HD and invalidated license for Acrobat on the first HD.
