I dunno if u have tried this, but need to have the "read only" AND "hidden" box checked. I ran into the same problem but this worked like a charm. Below are a full set of instructions just in case:
Install Instructions:
1. You MUST Uninstall ANY Previous version Of SpySweeper FIRST And Remove It's ENTIRE Folder. If you made install.dat "read-only" - then you
must first uncheck the "read-only" Setting before your Previous SpySweeper Can Be Removed.
i would recommend cleaning your registry of any spysweeper references as well.
2. Reboot After uninstalling previous version and install this new version.
3. Use This Serial: SSDA-ONLN-AAAA-NAOC-XOUP
BUT DO NOT START SpySweeper after installation. Click "NO" When Asked To Start SpySweeper
4. Go to The SpySweeper FOLDER which Will Probably Be located In:
C:\Program Files\Webroot\SpySweeper and locate the install.dat file.
5. Open it with a text editor like notepad By Right-Clicking it. Then change "dl=365" to "dl=3650" and save.
6. Right click the install.dat file and choose "Properties" And Check The 2 Boxes "Hidden" and "Read-Only".
7. Make sure spysweeper.exe is NOT running in Task Manager while you are doing this.
8. Start SpySweeper and Enjoy Updating for Many Years To Come.
