How DOES Numerology work? Most people would agree that numbers, in and of themselves are not good or evil, do not open gateways to netherworlds or heavens, and do not, of themselves create good or bad luck Many Numerologists agree that Numerology is based upon millions of years of reinforcement of cultures and associations between letters, numbers, symbols and actual and mythical events, people and things, and that these long-term influences have created mental associations between letters, numbers, and our expectations that tend to make things happen in certain ways.
Other Numerologists point out the many instances in the real world where certain numbers turn up again and again, in a variety of settings: (12 Notes in a scale, Twelve Lunar Months (plus a little) in a Year, Menstruation occurring on a monthly cycle - Twelve times a year, Twelve hours in the day, Twelve hours of night, Twelve Tribes of Hebrews, Twelve Disciples, The earliest codification of Roman law: The Twelve Tables, 12 minor prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi, 12 Zodiacal Signs, 12 jurors in a jury, and so on) - And they argue that our world naturally generates structures that prefer certain numbers and that certain types of things are associated with certain numbers, due to the mathematical organization of the universe.
Still others believe that these numbers and symbols that we use every day are being concentrated upon by millions of people, and have been concentrated upon by billions and billions of people for millions of years, and that as a result of this, they have actually been invested with the psychic power and karmic energy of these people, and the type of energy that they are infused with is controlled by how people viewed the numbers involved. And that these energies produce the influences that Numerologists perceive.
No matter what you believe about what lies beyond Numerology, it will remain an interesting field of study, and an influence upon humankind for as long as our age remains in the memory of man.
